Cardiff and Vale College
Cardiff and Vale College has officially opened the doors to its £45m City Centre Campus, which features a new thermal spa from DaleSauna.
Developed in partnership with Rightacres and Willmott Dixon, and backed by £20m from the Welsh Government, the new City Centre Campus is hailed as one of the most ambitious educational projects in Wales.
The 16,000sq m building is located in the heart of Cardiff and will support approximately 4,000 students studying across 200 different courses as well as thousands more individuals on short courses, employer training and apprenticeships.
The wide range of industry-standard facilities include a thermal spa to be used for teaching purposes as well as a commercial venture. Appointed by Willmott Dixon, DaleSauna has created a thermal offering comprising a sauna, steam room, spa pool, ice feature, dry float and feature showers that meet the requirements of Level 3 Spa Therapy as well as the demands of modern users.
“DaleSauna have become recognised specialists in the design and supply of equipment to beauty colleges, and have supplied most of the UK’s new build and refurbishment projects over the past few years. We are delighted to have been involved in this prestigious project for Cardiff College, and to have worked once again with Wilmot Dixon,” says Gerard McCarthy, sales director at DaleSauna.
Other facilities designed to allow students to develop their skills include a performance theatre, music technology, film, dance and art studios, restaurant and kitchens, and a strength and conditioning gym.
The new City Centre Campus forms part of the College’s 10-year plan to revolutionise education and training across the Capital Region and beyond.
